Problems and potential risks of traditional biomass boilers

26 Aug, 2021

Most biomass boilers evolved from coal-fired boilers, but biomass boilers have more parts such as air distribution, feed, ignition, and control systems than ordinary coal-fired boilers. There are some obvious problems and potential risks in such equipment. Only by overcoming the problems and eliminating the risks can the biomass boiler develop well.

Problems and potential risks of traditional biomass boilers

In order to obtain a more compact structure, the combustion chamber space in the biomass boiler is usually very small, which will promote the biomass volatilization cost during the combustion process to leave the high temperature zone under the action of blast and induced air. The combustible gas that has not been burnt will exchange heat with the water wall to reduce the temperature and cannot continue to burn.

As a result, it directly leads to the low-temperature coking of its water wall and the pollution of air emissions; it is important to know that this kind of low-temperature coking attachments is not easy to clean, which will reduce the flue gas emission capacity, thereby reducing its power. Not only that, it will also seriously affect heat exchange, resulting in high energy consumption; and light fuel powder and unburnable carbon particles are discharged from the furnace body under the action of airflow, causing solid loss.

Traditional biomass boilers mostly adopt fire tube or water tube heat exchangers. This type of heat exchanger is characterized by large volume, large water capacity, but small heat exchange area; and due to the installation of an economizer, the exhaust gas temperature is also Very high, making the thermal efficiency drop.

Most of the biomass boilers are equipped with silicon nitride igniters, which expand from one point to the entire surface during ignition. For large boilers, ignition takes a long time; and before it burns stably, it takes a long time. The smoke exhaust time, the smoke concentration will also be greater.
